Letter to the Editor

The rapidly developing onslaught of technology has the distinction of diverting our attention from the human aspect in ways that can severely damage society.

Automotive News recently covered the advancements in driverless automobiles that developers of the technology suggest will be an improvement to our lives. One contributor wrote that one day you could call for an Uber car that would arrive without a driver and you could program it to your destination.

This is a prime example of how engineering can sometimes override good design. Well intentioned technology needs to look beyond how well it works and consider its impact on the user.

With that very idea in mind I wrote this letter to Automotive News.
